"Also known as Count John of Lower Egypt. According to legend, he was the very first Gypsy who arrived at the Iberian Peninsula in the 15th century. Besides, he is supposed to have settled in my hometown, Castelló. In this piece, we want to pay tribute to all the wonderful musical contributions of both Gypsies and Egyptians. I think that the main melody sounds a bit like those beautiful electric guitar licks of the last Umm Kalthoum recordings".

"El Conde Juan del Bajo Egipto, fue, según la leyenda, el primer gitano que llegó a la Península Ibérica en el siglo XV y, al parecer, se instaló en Castellón. Queremos homenajearle por todo lo que, tanto la cultura gitana como la egipcia, han aportado a la música. El tema central creo que recuerda un poco a aquellas deliciosas frases de guitarra eléctrica de las últimas canciones que grabó Om Kalsoum".
